Tom was born in Exeter, UK while his father was stationed with the Royal Marine Commando's. The next eighteen years were spent in a Marine Corps family living on various bases around the world. Upon his own graduation from the Virginia Military Institute, Tom was commissioned as an officer in the US Marine Corps. His experience on the selective special operations unit has prepared Tom for many of his post Marine Corps experiences. After his career serving with the Marine Corps, Tom matriculated to the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
